2015 give guideIt’s that magical time of year when the Willamette Week 2015 Give Guide comes out and you get to decide which Portland area non profits you want to donate to!

This year they’ve picked 143 organizations in 9 different categories that you can learn about and donate to.  They have a number of different packaged incentives from local businesses including free slices at Sizzle Pie ($10-$999) or a $10 gift certificate at Tender Loving Empire ($2000-$3999).

And there are six big give days this year which enter you into a drawing for a Powell’s Books $500 shopping spree, Portland Thorns and Timbers tickets and more.

Take some time to browse the 2015 Give Guide and check out all the worthy recipients. A lot of groups have matching donations set up or have incentives listed on their pages. I’ve been busy this summer and fall working on new products and updates to the website. The blog and social media may have been fairly quiet, but behind the scenes I’ve been working away steadily.

I’m pleased to now offer international shipping options and updated USPS shipping options that include tracking and insurance. I’ve been working on many show applications for November and December and will have a list of places I’ll be posted soon. I’m excited to be showing with a plethora of new products this season and hope to see you in the coming months.

20 Days of Handmade: Mandy Allen Metal Arts

mandy allen metal artsThere are only a couple of posts left for 20 Days of Handmade! Today’s pick is another artist I met at the Grout Elementary holiday fair this year, Mandy Allen Metal Arts. She uses silver and anodized aluminum to create lovely and light jewelry and wall art. I love her gingko leaf inspired pieces such as this necklace. I’ve long been a fan of anodized aluminum and really enjoy her color combinations and metal cuts. Each piece has a lot of movement and never looks heavy.

Mandy Allen Metal Arts can also be found tomorrow at the Handmade Northwest Formal show!

10% for the Portland Women’s Crisis Line

It’s that time of year again! Time to decide who to donate 10% of shop profits to for the months of November and December. We’re pretty fortunate to have the Give Guide here in Portland, OR, that encourages people to give at the end of the year. The have both a website and a print publication that highlights numerous charities. Many charities get matching funds for part of their donations that go through the Give Guide, so I’ve decided to donate through them this year.

I’ve chosen the Portland Women’s Crisis Line as this year’s recipient. Please take a moment to read about their 24 hour service support for women who are experiencing domestic or sexual violence. You can donate to them directly and 10% of all sales in my shop from November 1 through December 30 will be donated on December 31 (which is the cut off for Give Guide donations).

Plush For Tender Loving Empire

It’s been a bit quiet here at Panda With Cookie headquarters since Vegan MoFo ended. But have no fear, gentle reader, I have not forgotten you. Tomorrow will bring back one of my most popular MoFo themes. Stay tuned! Meanwhile you can take a look at what I have been working on.

tender loving empire

All these plush will be heading to Tender Loving Empire in Portland next week to stock their stores for the holidays. They will still be at their downtown location and will also have a store on Hawthorne in southeast. I just have to finish the pile of stegosaurus pirates and they will be ready to go.

I am also working on a new product prototype that will hopefully be debuting here in a couple of weeks. Sign up for my newsletter at the bottom of this page to get a monthly update on what’s new at Panda With Cookie, photos of Geroge, and other exciting happenings.
